2013 – DIRECTV Play was the first of its kind in our Latin American territories. Before it launched, there were no other streaming video portals from any of the Latin America pan-regional TV providers.
During a phone call with one of our content providers, I had an insight that led me to generate the initial idea for this project. I approached my boss and together we developed the concept and technical architecture. I subsequently led and managed the product from start to completion, creating the designs, negotiating rights with the content providers (HBO, Turner, Moviecity, etc…), overseeing visual design, development, and even reviewing the TV commercial that aired across our Latin American territories. Within three months of launching, it had led to almost 2000 TV package upgrades and over 7000 new user registrations per month. DIRECTV Play was honored as one of three company-wide initiatives presented to the President and Board of Directors in 2013.
